Retired Lt. Gerald E. Patrick, 80, of Lake Charles died on Sunday, March 17, 2013 in his residence with his family at his side following an extended illness.
Mr. Patrick was born on March 19, 1932 in Many, LA. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Era and later served our city, retiring after twenty years of loyal service, as a Lieutenant from the Lake Charles Police Department. Following retirement from the LCPD he became a cross country truck driver.
Mr. Patrick was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Municipal Police Officers Association and the Louisiana Police Officers Association. Mr. Patrick also belonged to W.B. Williamson American Legion Post #1.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his loving wife, Bobbie Gregg Patrick, Lake Charles; a son, Michael Wayne Patrick, Ragley; a daughter, Peggy Ann Patrick Benoit, Creole; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Wright of Sulphur and Betty Brown of Belmont, LA.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald E. Patrick, Jr.; a brother, Hubert Patrick; and two sisters, Martha Ann Sigler and Margarette Elizabeth Patrick.
Visitation will be today, March 18, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday March 19, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Snyder officiating. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park, with Full Police Honors to be observed.
