Gerald "Jerry" Short

Gerald “Jerry” Short, 84, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 in a local care facility.

He was born on January 12, 1939 in Moulton, Alabama to Robert and Myrtle Short.

Gerald lived in Alabama until moving to Lake Charles in 2002. He was a member of

First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles. He enjoyed traveling and spending time

with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Edith Lopez Short; stepson, Troy LeJeune;

stepdaughter, Tammy LeJeune; Annette Owens who he raised like a daughter;

sisters, Sharon Conradie, Gail Jackson, and Kristi Traxler; brother, Tim Short; and

other family members who he loved dearly.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bobby Short, Michael Short, Gary

Short, and Stevie Short.

His graveside service will be at New Ritchie Cemetery on Friday, April 14, 2023 at

11:30 a.m. Rev. Dustin Goode will officiate. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral

Home of Moss Bluff on Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Burial will take place in New

Ritchie Cemetery following the services.
