Gerald Louis Foret, Sr., 86, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, August 08, 2015 in a local healthcare facility. Mr. Foret was born August 8, 1929 in Lutcher, LA to Thomas Foret, Jr. and Ivonne Bourgeois Foret. He was a graduate of Lutcher High School and Southwest Louisiana Institute (University of Louisiana Lafayette) where he obtained a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture. He also attended McNeese State University where he continued Science studies. He served in the Marine Reserves. Mr. Foret retired as a Supervisor of Contract Maintenance for Citgo Petroleum after forty years of service. During his younger years he was active with Little League Baseball and Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, dancing and traveling throughout the states and internationally. He was extremely talented and patient in crafting roses from redfish scales. Mr. Foret always looked forward to his weekly meeting with the "Coffee Vampires". He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and was elected an "honorary member of the Catholic Daughters" for his countless hours as a volunteer. Mr. Foret will be remembered as a "social butterfly", he loved gatherings of family and friends, hosting parties, cooking and entertaining. He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of sixty-four years, Catherine Petit Foret of Lake Charles; two sons, Gerald Foret, Jr. of Broussard and David Foret of Shreveport; two daughters, Denise Collett of Lake Charles and Charlene Burgess and husband Mark of Zwolle; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Foret of Fort Worth, TX and one sister, Lorraine Larose of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Thomas J. Foret, III, Dr. James A. Foret, Daniel Foret and Lynn Foret, Sr. and one sister, Yvonne Pavy'. "Mr. Foret's wishes were that this be a time of celebration for a life well lived and a time of thanksgiving that he is whole again and at peace in the arms of the Lord." A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:30 PM. Visitation Thursday will be from 10:00 AM until 12:45 PM in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
