Gerald Wayne Miller, 66, of Lake Charles died at 7:40 PM on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in his residence.
Gerald was born to Eula and Hasting Miller of Lake Charles, Louisiana on September 20, 1945. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He attended LaGrange Senior High School and Sowela Technical Institute. He was a welder by trade and retired from Olmstead after 21 years of employment.
Gerald loved camping, boat riding, fishing, riding his golf cart and 4-wheeler. He spent hours reading. He also held a passion for researching the stories of wild horses. He also spent an extraordinary amount of time visiting with relatives, a tradition he never left behind. He loved nature and cherished all the oak trees he planted on his property some 35 years ago.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Linda Gail Miller, two sons, Tracy James Miller and Shawn Wayne Miller, five granddaughters, Jordan, Kaylee, Natalie, Lindsey and Alexis (all Millers) and one great grandson, Duffy Jr. He is also survived by his sister Karen Miller, brothers-in-law, Terry (Sue) McCullough, Ron (Kay) Leger and Preston (Sue) Doucet, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
He is predeceased in death by his parents, Eula and Hasting Miller, sister Patricia Doucet and nephew Troy Doucet.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 31, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kelly Vigo will officiate. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
