Geraldine Deanie Fontenot Smith

Geraldine Marie Fontenot Smith, 68, of Lake Charles passed away Tuesday, March 05, 2013 in the comfort of her home.

Mrs. Smith was born in Eunice, raised in Basile and has lived most of her adult life in Lake Charles. She worked twenty-five years for HR Block, retiring as District Office Manager. Mrs. Smith enjoyed dancing with her husband as they won many Dance Competitions. She also enjoyed traveling, touring and shopping with her husband, following his retirement. She took great pride in her family and especially enjoyed caring for them, listening and lending advice and cooking for Sunday gatherings. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters and attended Christ the King Catholic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of fifty-one years, William Bill A. Smith of Lake Charles; two sons, David A. Smith and wife Mary and Michael A. Smith and wife Zoe, both of Austin, TX; two daughters, Karen LaRocca and Kathy Owen and husband Chris, both of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Stephanie LaRocca, Grace Owen, Matthew Smith, Meredith Owen, Camille Smith, William Smith and Sarah Owen; one brother, Charles E. Fontenot and wife Norma of Scott; one aunt, Wilda LeJeune and husband Louis of Basile and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Emery Fontenot and Hamerice Pommier.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Wednesday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Thursday will be from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
