Geraldine Duhon Landry, age 74, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at her residence in Lake Charles.
She was born May 4, 1936, in Hathaway, to Ernest and Isabella Richard Duhon. Mrs. Landry worked at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Daycare for many years. She loved bowling, shopping, fishing and sewing. She especially loved being in The Red Hat Lady Society. A member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Catholic Daughter's of America, and The Cajun French Music Association, she was proud of her Cajun heritage. She often had lunches with her old classmates from St. Charles Academy which she look forward to and enjoyed so much. Mrs. Landry had such a vibrant personality that she never met a stranger where ever she went. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Andrew Landry of Lake Charles; five children, Dwight "Joe" Landry and wife, Lisa of Lake Charles, Monica Landry Pesson and husband, Roland "Buddy" of Lake Charles, Ricky Landry and wife, Cindy of Broussard, Scott Landry and wife, Kathleen of Lake Charles, and Charmaine Landry Anderson and husband, Andy of Lake Charles; a brother, Reggie Duhon and wife, Pat of Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011, at Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Friday, March 18, from 8 a.m. until time of services. A scripture service will be held Thursday evening at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary prayed by The Catholic Daughters at 6:30 p.m.
