Geraldine Fontenot Manuel

Geraldine Fontenot Manuel, 92, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 in a local healthcare facility.

Mrs. Manuel was born in Chatagnier, LA to Dees and Mattie Sensat Fontenot. She was raised and educated in Eunice and was a graduate of St. Edmonds High School. She lived fifty-five years in Lake Charles. Mrs. Manuel studied dance during her younger years at a School of Dance and performed in Stateside USO Shows. She always loved to dance and also enjoyed camping with her family. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Manuel was devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Edwena Ash and husband Gary of Dequincy and Sandra Manuel McGrath and husband Kurtis of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Becky Cart and husband Greg of Lake Charles, Matthew Joseph Ash of Moss Bluff and Adam William McGrath of Lake Charles; one great-granddaughter, Alexandra Renee Ash of Baton Rouge and her cousin who was raised with her like a brother, Aldon Sonny Soileau of Moss Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Adam Manuel; grandson, John Joseph McGrath and granddaughter, Nicole McGrath.

Funeral services will be at 8:30 AM Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Danny Torres will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice, LA. Visitation Monday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Jerry Hebert, the nurses and staff of Grand Cove Nursing Home, special caregiver, Marla Rentrop and neighbor and dear friend, Norma May. They also express appreciation and thanks to their many relatives, neighbors, and friends who have shared condolences, encouragement, cards, flowers, calls, visits, prayers and kindness during the life and passing of their mother.
