Gereline “Jeri” Benoit Phillips, of Lafayette, Louisiana passed away on October, 30, 2022, just 17 days before her 96th birthday, at The Camelot Assisted Living Home in Broussard, Louisiana. Jeri was born November 16, 1926 to Stanley and Jettie Long Benoit in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She married Thomas Edwin “Ed” Phillips on September 6, 1947. They had two sons, Thomas E. “Tom” Phillips, Jr. and Wynn A. Phillips.
Jeri was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, caring for her home, and fishing. She especially enjoyed fishing for white perch with her grandsons. Upon retirement, Jeri and Ed moved to their camp on Barnes Creek where they enjoyed their early golden years being in the woods. In 1992, they moved to Lafayette to be near their sons and grandchildren. She continued to enjoy visits from their friends and family from Lake Charles.
Jeri is survived by her son, Wynn A. Phillips and his wife, Joyce of Lafayette; grandsons, Todd E. Phillips and wife Bonnie of Denham Springs, W. Allen Phillips, Jr. and wife Lauren of Geismar; granddaughter, Marielle P. Babb and husband Jerry of Lafayette; great-grandchildren, Thomas E. Phillips, IV of Baton Rouge, Paige Marie, T.J. and Trevor E. Phillips all of Denham Springs, Benjamin, Emily, Julianna, Nicholas and Abigail Phillips, all of Geismar, Jackson B. Babb of Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Frances Moreau Phillips of Baton Rouge, and nieces, Mitzi Moring, Laurie Benoit and Armena Smith.
Jeri was preceded in passing by her parents, Stanley and Jettie Benoit, husband, Thomas Edwin Phillips, son, Thomas E. Phillips, Jr., grandson, Thomas E. Phillips III, great grandchild, Alex Jo Phillips, sister, Erline Benoit Berry and nephew Larry Stanley.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at noon Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St., Lake Charles, LA. 70605. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. also at Johnsons Funeral Home with burial to follow at Old Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff, La.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA 70503.
