Gertrude "Chooky" Romero

Gertrude “Chooky” Trahan Romero, 71, of Westlake, LA, died on Monday, April 18, 2016 in her residence.

Mrs. Romero was born November 30, 1944 in Lowry, LA, raised in Hayes, LA and attended school in Bell City.  She lived most of her live in the Holmwood area until moving to Westlake, LA five years ago.  She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where she was part of the rosary group.  Mrs. Romero enjoyed cooking, crafts and playing card games, but her true love was for her family.  She will always be remembered for her personality but was always a giver at heart.

Mrs. Romero is survived by her children, David Adams and wife Jenn of Westlake, LA, Donald James Adams and wife Sheri Ann of Lacassine, LA, Dwayne Lee Adams of Lake Charles, Debbie Stevenson and husband George of Atascocita, TX, and John Paul Romero of Iowa, LA, Denise Breard and husband Morgan of Monroe, LA, Dennis Romero and wife Doris of Monroe, LA and Dina Pizzuto and husband Todd of Nikiski, AK; sister, Delores Leger of Chicago, IL; brother, Dan Trahan and wife Barb of Welsh, LA; best friend, Ann Wood of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Ester Harrington of Holmwood, LA; twenty-nine grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Romero; parents, John Clyde and Olivia Trahan; brother, J.C. Trahan; sister, Kathy Sonnier; and grandchild, Cassie Adams.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.  Father Emanuel Tanu will officiate.  Burial will follow in DeRouen-Lorraine Cemetery in Hayes.  Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
