Gertrude Corbello

Gertrude T. Corbello, 91 of Lake Charles, LA was welcomed into Heaven Monday, November 16, 2020 by her husband Paul E. Corbello and her parents Leo and Julia Ewing.

Gertrude was born on June 28, 1929 in Lake Charles, LA and attended St. Charles Catholic Academy.   She was a proud mother to her two daughters; she worked at Volpes, Mullers and The Fashion. She was a member and past president of the Spinners and Weavers Club and also enjoyed reading and she was self-taught on the Dulcimer.

Her grandchildren affectionately called her Granny and enjoyed spending their summers with her roller-skating, her teaching them to play cards, playing baseball and ending their days listening to her “stories’ as they fell asleep.

She was a past member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake where she taught pre-school.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Paula Derouen and Julia Bias; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Due to current Covid pandemic, for the health and safety of their friends and loved ones, the family held a private burial at Highland Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
