Gilbert Louis "Poo" Landry, Jr., 82, of Creole, LA was called home on Friday, May 09, 2014 in a local care facility. Mr. Landry was born on June 13, 1931 in Creole, LA. He owned Landry's Cafe for a number of years before going to work for the Louisiana State Department of Highway Transportation, which then he retired. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Creole, LA. He enjoyed playing music with the band he was a member of called "The Teardrops". Mr. Landry also enjoyed many other things such as working cattle, hunting, and fishing, and last but mostly not least, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is survived by his three children, Kathy Guthrie and husband Earl of Cameron, Kirk Landry and wife Evelyn of Creole, and Chris Landry and wife Janice of Grand Lake; grandchildren, Steven Landry and wife Christi Kay of Creole, Kassie Boudreaux and husband J.R. of Cameron, and Chase Landry and wife Rachal of Grand Prairie; step grandchildren, Gordon L. Ladner and partner Jay Slemmer of Lake Charles, Dawn S. LeBlanc and husband Michael of Lafayette, and Heather Miller and husband Mitch of Lake Charles; great grandchildren, Will Boudreaux, Ryann Landry, Dex Landry, Meg Boudreaux, and Hudson Landry; step great grandchildren, Jade and Hunter Miller; a brother, Robert V. Landry and wife Bobbie of Creole; and a sister in law, Una Savoie of Carlyss. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Marilyn Landry; father, Gilbert Louis Landry, Sr.; mother, Ella "Eune" Theriot Landry; and grandmother, Alida Boudoin. A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Creole. The Rev. Tim Goodley will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday in the funeral home from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until preparing to go to the church at 1:30 PM. Pallbearers will be: Dr. Francis Bride, Robin Roberts, JT Primeaux, David Conner, Floyd Saltzman, and Fredrick Boudoin as well as several acting as honorary pallbearers. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to caregiver Helen LeBlanc, Dr. Louise Becnel, Christus Hospice and his new extended family, the staff of the Guardian House, for the loving care and compassion they showed him during his stay.
