Gladys D. Soileau, 85, of Lake Charles, LA died on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

 

Gladys was born on August 20, 1930 in Ville Platte, LA to Alcide and Emile DeVille. She is a native of Ville Platte, LA and a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, LA since 1948. Gladys loved cooking for her family on Sunday gatherings. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and retired from K Mart after over 20 years of service. She was also cafeteria worker for many years at Oak Park Junior High School and a proud member of the Mall Walkers.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are four sons, Steve Soileau and wife Debbie of Iowa, LA, Don J. Soileau of Baytown, TX, Dwayne Soileau and wife Karen of Lake Charles, LA and Glenn Soileau and wife Teresa of Lake Charles, LA; twelve grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Laddie Soileau; her parents; and all siblings.

 

The family would like to express and sincere thank you to Southern Care Hospice especially Tiffany, Samantha, and Kim. Also a special thank you to Marty Berry for her weekly devotions from Our Lady Queen of Heaven.

 

Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:30 PM on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 8:00 AM until 11:30 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park. Father Matthew Cormier will officiate services.
