Glen Lee Sparrow, affectionately known as "Pop" by family and as "Captain Glen" by his fishing buddies, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the age of 81. He was born in Beaufort County, NC and has lived most of his life in Lake Charles. While on this earth, Mr. Sparrow served the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his service he began his career as Captain on several tugboats and later Captain aboard his own commercial fishing vessel. During his later years, Mr. Sparrow successfully owned and operated Auto Marine Electric for over thirty years. He leaves to honor his memory, his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Judith Warren Sparrow; two daughters, Gayle Bergeron (Wayne) and Beverly Rider (Gary); one son, Keith Sparrow (Teresa); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and three sisters, Norma Sikes, Liz McGowan and Rena Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" Edward Sparrow and Pattie Christine Daniels Sparrow; a daughter, Vivian Paige Sparrow; great- grandson, Jaydon Todd Louviere; great- granddaughter, Carly Josephine Rupert and a son-in-law, Todd Silcott Hughes. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve McMullen will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be in Prien Memorial Gardens. Visitation Friday will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
