Glenda Bea Pecorino Mccarty

Glenda Bea Pecorino McCarty, 84, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2023, in her home. She was born on April 1, 1939, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Piercie Carlisle and Jack Pecorino.

Glenda graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1957.  She was a member of the Kilties and was honored as a Lake Charles High Beauty.  She was an equestrian and showed her horse, “High Pride” in many horse shows.  She graduated from LSU in 1960 with a degree in education where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.  While at LSU she met the love of her life, David McCarty.  They made their home in Baton Rouge where they started their family and made many lifelong friends.  She was involved in the Junior League of Baton Rouge, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae and LSU Football.  In Baton Rouge she started her career as a realtor, working for Tommy Neck Real Estate.

After twenty years, Glenda and David moved to Lake Charles which was home for Glenda.  In Lake Charles she continued her real estate career with Mary Kay Hopkins Real Estate.  She became very involved in the Lake Charles community as a member of the Junior League of Lake Charles, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae and Krewe of Mystique, where she was honored as Queen Anna in 1998.  Glenda served on the St. Patrick Hospital Foundation Board and the Lake Charles Symphony Board.  She was also chairman of the Altar Guild at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd for many years.  She volunteered countless hours with her childrens’ activities and many different organizations in her community.  Glenda was a devoted wife and mother, but her favorite role was being “Granny” to her eleven grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her beloved husband of 63 years, David McCarty; her children, Jackie Carleton (Mike), Janie Duplechin (Keith), Julie Micallef (Andy) and John David McCarty (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Laura Carleton Doody (Cullen), Rebecca Carleton, Ellen Carleton O’Brien (Cian), Jack Duplechin, David Duplechin, Anna Duplechin, Carlisle Micallef, Benjamin Micallef, John Pierce Micallef, Jack McCarty and Dylan McCarty; her brother, Johnny Pecorino (Liz); her brother-in-law, Dan McCarty (Missie); her sister-in-law, Charlotte McCarty Fowler (Dick); and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Jacqueline Pecorino.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30, 2023, at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 715 Kirkman Street, Lake Charles, LA.  The Reverend Dr. Mitzi George will serve as Celebrant.  Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 11:00 AM.  Cremation will be entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, and she will be laid to rest in The Chapel of the Resurrection at a later date.
