Glenda Marie Benoit Mcclelland

Glenda Marie Benoit McClelland, 68, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 2:10 AM on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in a local hospital.

Mrs. McClelland was born January 20, 1950 in Cameron, LA, where she lived all of her life until moving to Lake Charles after Hurricane Rita. She worked at Cameron Elementary School for a number of years and most recently at Hackett’s Cajun Kitchen. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and attended St. Margaret Catholic Church. Mrs. McClelland was very dedicated to her faith and had a love for her family that will always be remembered.

Mrs. McClelland is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Joseph R. McClelland of Lake Charles; daughters, Jennifer Rhorer and husband Robin of Fenton, LA and Christina McClelland of Lake Charles; daughter-in-law, Tammy McClelland of Lacassine, LA; brothers, Floyd Benoit and wife Carolyn of Creole, LA, Andrew Benoit and wife Joan of Texas, and Donald Benoit and wife Michelle of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Garrett Soileau and wife Caroline, Natalie Rhorer, Bryan McClelland, and Timothy McClelland; great-grandson, Owen Soileau; and God-children, Paul Benoit of Lake Charles, Tammy Peshoff of Cameron, LA, and Lawrence Trahan of Leesville, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Anastazie Benoit; son, Matthew McClelland; and grandson, Nathaniel Soileau.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole, LA. Father Babasino Fernandes will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of the Marsh Cemetery in Little Chenier, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary at 12:00 PM.
