Glenda Rae Pattillo Smith, 77, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in a Lafayette hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born December 11, 1943 in Lake Charles, LA, where she was a lifelong resident. She was a 1960 graduate of St. Charles Academy and McNeese State University in 1964, where she received her degree in Business Education. She began her career at LaGrange Senior High School and later taught Business Math at Lake Charles Boston High School. Mrs. Smith loved to cook, collected cookbooks, enjoyed nature and working crossword puzzles. She had a thirst for knowledge and never stopped learning. She also was an elegant dancer, enjoyed all music, and was known for her compassionate, loving and nurturing nature.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Suzanne LeDoux; sister, Jackie Pattillo Ellender and husband Gerald; adopted son, Ricky Steele; and step-children, Lani Farley, Moki Smith, Kimo Smith, and Yvan Smith. We will miss your big, beautiful blue eyes and those quick, amazing, non-sensical expressions, a trait that she learned from her father.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Smith; parents, Charles and Themla Gray Pattillo; son-in-law, Joseph “Joe” H. LeDoux.
Her cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
