Glenda Sittig Duplichan

September 28, 1956 — July 17, 2022

Glenda Sittig Duplichan, 65, of Westlake passed away at 6:53 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2022 in a New Orleans hospital.

Glenda was born on September 28, 1956 in Lake Charles and was raised in Gillis before moving to Westlake.  She attended Sam Houston High School.  Glenda was a special education teacher’s aide in Westlake and was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church.  In her younger years she was awarded the title “Little Britches Rodeo Queen” and rode on a horse named Suzie. 

She was a very memorable person who never met a stranger and had a fierce personality and was fearless.  Children were attracted to her compassion and inspiration.  Glenda would often make self-sacrifices to be able to help others in need.  In her spare time, she took pleasure in being outdoors and hunting and fishing. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 33 years, AJ Duplichan of Westlake; daughter, Jennifer Duplichan of Westlake; stepchildren, Jonathan Duplichan (Kathryn) of Ragley, Tracy Duplichan (Beth) of the Philippines, and Angel Courville (Mike) of Nevada; siblings, Fred Sittig, Jr. and Rodney Sittig both of Sulphur; special grandchildren, Brooklynn and Brilynn Duplichan; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Fred Sittig, Sr.; stepson, Mike Duplichan; and brothers, Robert, Jimmy, and Allen Sittig.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 23,2022 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church.  Father Jenesh Joseph will officiate.  Burial will follow in Old Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:30 AM until leaving for the church at 10:15 AM.
