Nelton Glenn Joseph Istre, 60, of Lake Charles died at 4:36 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in his residence.
Mr. Istre was born on September 18, 1951 in Lake Charles and lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Lake Charles High School. Mr. Istre was a dedicated night time support manager for the Highway 14 location Wal-Mart for over 29 years. For many years he was a reserve City Marshall and recently became a reserve Sheriff Deputy.
He loved to fish and duck hunt. Mr. Istre also enjoyed going to the shooting range to practice shoot.
Those left to cherish his memory are five siblings and their spouses, Linda Duplechin and Wilbert of LeBleu Settlement, Elizabeth Dore and Jack of Lake Charles, Jimmy Istre and Sharon of LeBleu Settlement, David Istre and Cindy of Sulphur, and Michael Istre and Brenda of Hughesville, PA; three step children, Mary Chauvin and Elaine Snyder both of Lake Charles, and Alisa Warren of Carlyss; seven step grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren; and two very special friends, Charlotte Semar of Hayes and Gerald Lee of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Istre; his parents, Mary Rose and Nelton Istre; a niece, Melissa Dore; and his nephew and Godson, Chad Istre.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Grady O'Neal will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
