Gloria Ann Abshire Desselle

Gloria Ann Desselle, 88, of Lake Charles, LA went home to be with her Lord on July 23, 2017. She was born on July 19, 1929, in Jacksboro, TX to Frank and Ethel Novak.

Gloria moved to the Lake Charles area in 1948 and began working for Citgo Petroleum Company in the mid-fifties. She retired from there in 1985 as a Supervisor Foreman.

Gloria was an avid reader and especially loved reading historical novels. Her family was the center of her life, she loved spending time with them especially during the holiday seasons. Gloria loved her church and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ethel Hickman Novak.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, James “JL” (Peggy) Langley and Linda (Steve) Darbonne, both of Lake Charles. Others who will cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Chad(Tiffany) Langley, Steve (Samantha) Darbonne and Michelle (Brandon) Fontenot, along with her ten great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and guests on Wednesday, July 26, from 9AM – 12PM at Johnson Funeral Home. A rosary and a scripture reading will be at 12PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Rosewood Nursing Home and to Heart of Hospice for their loving care.
