Gloria Gossett

August 14, 1941 — February 26, 2022

Gloria Dean Gossett was one of a kind and knowing her meant you knew she was devout in her Catholic faith and in attending funerals; and she’s disappointed to not be greeting you at the doors of Johnson Funeral Home.

She was born in Mamou, Louisiana on August 14, 1941, attending Mamou High School where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. Upon graduating in 1959 she made Lake Charles her home. To her three children she was their biggest fan, supporter, and pilar of the family. She led by faith, ensuring her children were well versed in the Christian Faith. She served with the Ladies Alter Society, the Catholic Daughters, and sang in the Our Lady Queen of Heaven funeral choir for many years and was devout in attending daily mass.

Her vibrant personality and social spirit ensured she never met a stranger. She loved dancing, cooking gumbo, hosting, and supplying her endless love and support to the families of those she who had passed.

She was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, February 26, 2022 by her husband, Billy Frank Gossett; her parents, Sidney and Elda Ardoin; and two sisters, Joyce Devall and Shelva Ardoin.

Those left to cherish her memory: son, Dwayne Guillory of Lake Charles; daughters, Dana Guillory McMahon of Gulf Breeze, FL and Mia Pelt of Seattle WA; grandchildren, Jacklyn McMahon, Trevor Guillory, Hunter Guillory, Louis Hurd, Jonah Hurd, and Sarah Gossett Howard and husband Shannon; brother, Carl (Sylvia) Ardoin; special niece, Shelva (Jimmie) Reed.
