Gloria Jean Bridges

Gloria Jean Bridges, 69, of Lake Charles died at 11:38 PM on Monday, January 3, 2011 in her residence.


Mrs. Bridges was born in Bell City, LA on April 8, 1941 and lived in Lake Charles most of her life. She was a 1959 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. Mrs. Bridges was co owner of American Citadel Guard and past owner of the Emporium of Lake Charles. She was a member of University United Methodist Church.


She had a passion for gardening and reading.


Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Kelly Bridges of Lake Charles, Jennifer Roessler and husband Keith, Jr. of Lake Charles, and Jody Tada of Sugar Hill, GA; two sisters, Connie Roche and Anita Duke both of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Joshua Courville, Devin Laughlin, Kaitlyn Courville, Ian Fontenot, and Koji and Seji Tada; and one great grandchildren, Finlee Rose Courville. She is also survived by her toy poodle, Bouk.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Ernest Thompson.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 6, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Randall Chesson will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
