Gloria Mae Newman

July 19, 1924 — March 22, 2016

Gloria Mae Newman, 91, was born July 19, 1924 to Henry and Vivian Webber. She went to meet THE LORD on March 22, 2016.

 

Ms. Newman lived in Moss Bluff and in the Lake Charles area for the past seventy years. She attended the First Pentecostal Church of Gillis. She loved to worship and praise THE LORD and welcomed everyone. She never met at stranger and was a hard worker and a cheerful giver. She had a beautiful smile and she loved to encourage others and tell people how much she loved them and how special they were to her. She loved life and had the joy of THE LORD.

 

Her memory will be cherished by her four daughters and two sons-in-law; Annie Butterfield of Ragley, LA, Gilda and Drew Herring of Charleston, SC, Tallulah Newman of Lake Charles, and Pearl and Jerry Richard of Moss Bluff; fourteen grandchildren, Bernadette Smith, Annie Rodgers, Russell Butterfield, III, Edward Butterfield, Michael Butterfield, Gloria Authement, Roger Butterfield, Heidi Sanchez, Ashley Bielawski, Tyler Herring, Heather Richard, Rev. Jerry Richard, Jr., Jordan Richard, and Sarah Richard; thirty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She loved her children, grandchildren and their spouses as her own, great and great-great-grandchildren, where she held them close to her heart.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband, Edward Newman, Jr.; as well as her great-grandson, Aaron Townsend Rodgers.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the First Pentecostal Church of Gillis, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pastors V. Joey Ethridge and Rod A. Buller will officiate. Burial will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
