Early on Christmas morning, Glyn Allen Howell went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Glyn, a 1957 alumnus of Sulphur High School, captained the Golden Tornado football team and was an avid football fan. He loved watching his two sons and grandson play high school football: Ricky Sweeney for the LaGrange Gators, Kevin Howell for the Sulphur Golden Tornadoes, and Chandler Sweeney for the Barbe Buccaneers. Glyn was proud of his youngest daughter, Chelsie Howell, for her singing, writing, and artistic abilities, and his eldest daughter, Devin Howell Rubin for her passion, commitment, and unwavering faith in serving Christ while helping others. A man ‘s wealth and honor can be measured by the strength of his children. Glyn was a great man, full of strength and honor.
Glyn joined the US Army after graduating from high school. Glyn, a retired machinist from Citgo, was an active union member for over 30 years. In addition, Glyn was a master carpenter and a very gifted man. Glyn faithfully supported the underprivileged, gave alms to Israel, and was a longtime member of the Apostolic Temple Pentecostal church in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Glyn is survived by his brother, Lindsey Morse of Louisiana and his beloved children, Devin Lynn Howell Rubin, wife of Edward Rubin of Massachusetts, Kevin Glynn Howell, husband of Jennifer Grafton Howell of Louisiana, Chelsie Leigh Howell of Illinois, and Richard Sweeney, husband of Carmen Sweeney of Louisiana. Glyn’s grandchildren are: Chantelia Legault and Gabriella Borselli from Massachusetts, Josie Campbell, Tristan Brines, Benjamin and Shelby Fagan, Jolie Bowman all of Illinois, Taylor and Chandler Sweeney of Louisiana, and London Diaz of Arizona. Great grandchildren are Ava Sky Garrity, his beloved, and many more great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to count. Glyn also shared many fond memories with his good friend, Evelyn Smith.
Glyn is preceded in death by his beloved wife and mother to his Howell children, Donna Laverne Howell who was laid to rest in 1985. Glyn is preceded in death by his mother, Emma Morse, father, Shelton Raymond Howell, and his older brother, Kenneth Curtis Howell.
