Gordon "Gordy" Thienes, Jr.

Gordon “Gordy” Thienes, Jr., was taken home to heaven Thursday June 6th, 2019 at 2am in Lake Charles, LA at the age of 77.

Gordy was born on August 6, 1941 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He was an Army veteran and had served in Vietnam. Gordy retired from Gifford’s Mobile Home Village as the maintenance manager after 35 years where the neighbors could count on him for their every need. He was a generous, witty, dedicated individual who loved to hunt and fish and who was passionate about his family and being the life of the party. He always had a heart of gold and a love for his friends. The neighborhood knew him as Mr. Gordy, or pawpaw Gordy. He was very accepting of everyone that wanted to come sit down and have a “cold one with him”. He had a very unique spirit and knew how to make you smile. He loved his pets Lucy, Dezzy, Doc, and Candy.

Gordy is survived by his partner, Cherry BeBee of Lake Charles; his children, Michael Arnold of Lake Charles, Kimberly Arnold of Lake Charles, Holly Spell of Baytown, Kari Herren (Patrick Herren) of Vinton, Missy Giovanni (Greg) of Lake Charles; His grandchildren, Shawna Exline (Hunter) of Vinton, Joseph Herren (Kristy) of Anacoco, Brandon Arnold of Lake Charles, Jenae Jones of Vinton, Danielle Sukihanenya of Lake Charles, Jonathan Wilder of Lake Charles, Taylor Spell (Lorrena) of Oklahoma, and all of his great grandchildren;

He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Thienes, step-son Stephen “Bubba” Spell, sister Nancy Thienes, his mother and father, Mildred and Gordon Thienes, Sr..

A funeral is scheduled for Thursday June 13, 2019 2pm at Simple Traditions of Johnsons, with a reception to follow at 101 Toussaint Rd. Lot 70 Lake Charles, LA. Rev. Marcus Wade will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gordy’s life. The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice of Moss Bluff, LA for their efforts, care, and dedication.
