Grace Covington Guinn

March 29, 1958 — March 8, 2012

Grace Kay Covington Guinn, 53, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at her home in Moss Bluff, following an extended illness.


Born in Ruston, Louisiana, Grace lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and loved her high school reunions. She spent her career working in a multitude of positions, including management, for many local banks. She was a consistent presence through several bank mergers and was greatly appreciated by many customers for her service to them.


Grace loved crawfish boils, LSU football and the New Orleans Saints. She loved to travel and had fond memories of family trips to Gatlinburg and of her high school trip to Europe.


A loving wife and mother, Grace is survived by her husband, Homer "Buddy" Guinn, Jr. and son, Richard Payton Guinn, of Moss Bluff; parents, Payton Covington and wife Mary Lou and K. Duplechain and husband Charles, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Louise Marks and husband Sonny of Lake Charles and Celeste Covington of Iowa; and nieces, Ashley and Laura Ortego.


Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Home. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Entombment will be at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 10 a.m. until service time.


The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care given their beloved Grace to her caregivers, particularly Christine and Jennifer.
