Gracie Bell Lowe Martin

January 22, 1952 — October 15, 2013

Gracie was born to James and Lula Lowe. She was employed by the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a cook for the past twenty-three years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and New Orleans Saints football, but her greatest passion was her family. She had an infectious smile and a heart of gold. She touched many lives old and young, but her touch on her family will forever be felt. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Lula Lowe; brothers, James and Henry; sisters Daisy and Liza Mae; grandson, De'Anthony Martin; parents-in-law, Stanley and Bernice Martin. She was a cook, teacher, mentor, sister, daughter, aunt, wife, and mother, but most of all she was our living Angel. She is survived by the love of her life of forty-two years, Rayford J. Martin, Sr. and they shared the lives of their four children, Rayford J. Martin, Jr. (Megan), Daniel Martin (Amber), Tonya Martin and Regina Martin. Her precious grandchildren Keddin Martin, Aaron Enos, III, Isabella Enos, Brianna Enos, Rayford J. Martin, III, Ashlynn Martin, Stacey Emerson, and Matthew Emerson; brothers, Duffy Lowe, James Lowe, Hardy Lowe, Denton Lowe, and Larry Lowe; sisters, Delma Peshoff, Rosie Boudreaux, Darlene Bartlett, Christine Coleman, Loretta Brothers, Onie Lee Lucious; uncle, Truiett Folsom; numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Mom, you were our living angel and now you are our angel watching over us from heaven above. We love you and you will forever be in our hearts. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Father Mike Barras will officiate. Burial will follow in Westlake Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM followed by a Cursillo Rosary. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the funeral home from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM.
