Gregg Owen Pickens, 29, of Lake Charles, LA died Friday, July 30, 2010 in his residence following a brief illness.
Gregg was born in Monroe, LA, raised in Start, LA and lived most of his adult life in the Lake Charles area. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School. Gregg enjoyed fishing and bowling. He especially loved singing Karaoke, as he was very talented and often had his own fan club following. He will be most remembered for his famous "In Living Color" impressions and as just being "funny".
He leaves to honor his memory, his parents, C. Gregg and Angie G. Pickens of Kinder; two sisters, Melissa Anne Pickens of Lake Charles and Stephanie P. Dubard and husband Danny of Moss Bluff; one niece, Raegan Cole of Lake Charles; paternal grandmother, Kathleen G. Pickens of Monroe, LA; maternal grandparents, Walter O. Garner and wife Nell of Start, LA and Shirley N. Wall of Rayville, LA and many friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Gregg Pickens, Jr. and his paternal grandfather, Charles L. Pickens Jr.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Weldon Bares will officiate. Visitation Sunday will be from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation at Brown Holley Funeral Home in Rayville, LA Monday will be from 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM. Graveside Interment services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 in Start Cemetery in Start, LA.
