Gregory Allen Woods, 56, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 in a local hospital. Mr. Woods was born, September 05, 1958, in Savannah, GA. He was a graduate of A.M. Barbe High School and McNeese State University where he was member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was a Kappa Sigma Alumnist Advisor from 1994 to 2002. He worked his younger years in the Stock Market for Prudential, owned and operated Greatwest Corporation and Spray-Crete Decorative Concrete. Mr. Woods has worked the past several years as a Realtor for Moffett Realty Inc. He was a member of and acting President of SLAC and member and acting President of Ribbons of Hope. He loved to travel, especially the time he spent in California. He also enjoyed fishing, horticulture and landscaping. He took great pride in his home in Downtown Historic District, as it was a feature story of the Lake Charles American Press and a feature home in the Lake Charles American Press Calendar. Mr. Woods will be most remembered for the services he provided to the community, his compassion for family, friends, and those in need, his quick wit and his overwhelming love of animals. He leaves to honor his memory, his mother, Marilyn Bristow Woods of Lake Charles; one brother, Curtis L. "Woody" Woods, III and wife Deborah of Lake Charles; two sisters, Lynda Woods Ellis and husband Steve of Lake Charles and Staci Woods of Seattle, WA; one niece, Elyse Ellis of Lake Charles and extended family in Savannah, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Lee Woods, Jr. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. A Celebration of Life service will be at 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Gatherings of friends will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
