Gregory Damain Deshotel

Gregory Damain Deshotel, 50, of Lake Charles, LA died at8:20 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in a local hospital. Captain Deshotel was born October 8, 1964 in Ville Platte, LA and was a life resident of Lake Charles. He was a 1983 graduate of Barbe High School and has worked for the Lake Charles Fire Department for sixteen years, where he served as Captain. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping and always enjoyed cooking for his family. He was always friendly, with a mild manor and patient nature; he will be missed dearly. Captain Deshotel is survived by his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Annette Granger Deshotel; sons, Jacob and Chase Deshotel; mother, Beryl Deshotel; brother, Jody Deshotel and wife Becky, all of Lake Charles; sisters-in-law, Dina Bourgeois of Lake Arthur, LA and Marlo Granger of Iowa, LA; and nephews, Luke and Blake Deshotel. He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Deshotel; and brother, Phillip "P.D." Deshotel. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
