Gregory Wade Hampton, 65, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 in a local hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Hampton was a native of Harlingen, TX and has lived in many areas throughout Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee as he followed his career path. In 2006 he returned to Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Haynesville High School and Louisiana Tech University where he attained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He later continued studies in Process Engineering nearly completing his master’s degree. Upon his return in 2006, Mr. Hampton also returned to CITGO Petroleum, where he planned to retire. He was actively involved in Engineering clubs and organization and was recently named to be awarded an International award in Vienna, Austria. During his younger years, Mr. Hampton played the Trombone and was a member of Haynesville and Tech’s marching band and Music Fraternity, he came to enjoy music of all genres, Motown and Praise and worship being his favorite. His greatest times were spent amongst family, friends and food; especially where barbeque was involved! His door was always open for gatherings of family, playing games or just to offer love, support or guidance. Mr. Hampton was an admirable man of faith and family and will be remembered for his love and devotion, welcoming spirit and generous nature.
He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of forty-one years, Marilyn Guidry Hampton; father, Wade Evan Hampton of Lake Charles; three children, Jennifer Hampton Casiday and husband Brad of Moss Bluff, Randall Scott Hampton and fiancé, Angela Bass of Baytown, TX and Amy Hampton Treat and husband Robert of Deer River, MN; eight grandchildren, Sara Danielle Casiday, Amanda Renee Casiday, Brett Scott Hampton and wife Kimberly, Briana Michelle Hampton, Galatia Grace Treat, Israel Judah Treat, Hadassah Joy Treat and Thielen Mira Treat; cousins he considered brothers, Mike Ware and wife Rachel and Mark Ware and wife Lisa; his extended in-law family, the Guidrys and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Guidry Hampton and an infant son, Johnathon Wade Hampton.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Maplewood First Baptist Church in Sulphur under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor Todd Shumacher will officiate. Interment services will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South. Visitation Thursday will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service in the church.
