Gunner Read Thornton

Gunner Read Thornton, 19, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. 

Gunner was born on October 30, 2002 in Lake Charles, LA to Justin and Kim Littleton Thornton. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, as a rugged outdoorsman, and for always being polite and having a smile on his face. He was a hard worker and a great cook. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an excellent marksman. Gunner played baseball from the age of 5 all the way through high school. He played high school football and baseball at Westlake High School and Sam Houston High School.  

These left to cherish his memory include his parents, Justin Thornton and Kim Thornton; sibling, Grace Thornton; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ruth Thornton; maternal grandparents, Rickie and Zena Littleton; maternal great grandparents, Arthur and Carolyn Freeman; uncles, Brandon Thornton (Shawna) and Jason Littleton (Samy); aunt, Cassie Rudd (Daniel); girlfriend, Haylen Simon; godparents, Joey and Vickie Jenkins;  and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake, LA. The Rev. Mike Barras will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will resume at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. A private burial will be held at a later date. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.johnsonfuneralhome.net
