Gussie B. Ledet, 87, of Lake Charles, died Monday February 4, 2013 in a local care center.
She was born April 18, 1925 in Abbeville to John Isaac and Bella Frederick Broussard and a graduate of Abbeville High School. Gussie never met a stranger, and enjoyed meeting people. She was a loving and devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, especially tap. She performed at the Grand Olde Opry Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Morris J. Ledet, Jr. her parents, and three brothers. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are two sons, Kent Ledet of Lake Charles and fiance' Gayle Boudreaux, and Chris Ledet and wife Cindy of Lake Charles; two daughters, Karen Malik and husband John of Houston, TX and Tina Moon and fiance' Keith Green of Lake Charles, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, plus two on the way.
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday February 7, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Thursday at Our Lady of Good Counsel with Father Alan Trouville officiating. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
