Gustavia Mhire

Gustavia Jean Mhire, 84, died at 2:35 A.M. Sunday, October 20, 2013 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born December 8, 1928 in Sweetlake, LA to Clement and Viola Granger, Ms. Mhire lived in Sweetlake for twenty-six years after moving from Grand Chenier. Ms. Mhire was a member of the American Legion Auxillary #0364 and Lady Auxillary VFW Post # 8107. Ms. Mhire served as a Nurse at Cameron Parish Hospital for 30 years. Ms. Mhire is preceded in death by her parents and husband Edwin Mhire; sister, Adalie Granger; brothers, Clement l. "Black" Granger and Earl Granger. Survivors include one daughter, Karen Mhire Burchfield of Senatobia, Mississippi; one son, Dwight Mhire of Sweetlake, Louisiana; one sister Florence Hoffpauir of Sulphur ; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchilren. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00PM at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00PM until 10:00PM with a 6:30 PM Rosary at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
