Gwendolyn Arlette Wisby Sonnier Dugas, 69, of Lake Charles, LA died on June 15, 2014 at 4:15 AM in a local hospital. Ms. Dugas was born November 6, 1944 in Sulphur, LA and lived most of her life in Lake Charles, LA. She was a graduate of Marion High School and worked as a dance teacher for Fred Astaire Dance Studio and taught private dance lessons while living in Las Vegas. During her later years, she worked as a caregiver for a number of years. She was a member of Livingway Pentecostal Church and enjoyed making jewelry, growing plants, and cooking. Mrs. Dugas is survived by her son, Raymond "Deno" Sonnier and companion, Karen Dunaway of Lake Charles; grandchild, Ross Wayne Sonnier and wife Melanie of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Emelia and Ella Sonnier; cousin and best friend, Karen Wisby Pickett; cousins, Katrina Pickett, Frankie David Pickett, Dani Pickett, Charles Ryder, Buford Willis, and Gary Willis and wife DeeDee; and aunts, Viola Wisby and Bobbie Jean Stracener and husband C.J. She was preceded in death by her parents, Attris and Hazel Wisby; and husband, Ned Theall. Her memorial service will be on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 3:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.
