Gwendolyn Marie Young

Gwen Young, 67, of Ragley, LA passed away on Thursday, September, 28, 2017 in her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Young was born on February 13, 1950 in Lake Charles, LA to Wilford and Joyce Abshire. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1968 and went on to attend McNeese State University. Mrs. Young was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Ragley and made her Cursillo. Most recently she enjoyed driving her school bus for the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Gwen will mostly be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed greatly by all who loved her.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 48 years, Dennis Young; three daughters, Rachael LeQueux and husband John of Ragley, Megan Young of Ragley, Kammie Dronette and husband Tim of Ragley; two sisters, Glenda Abshire of Sulphur and Leticia Boullion and husband Kevin of Sulphur; grandchildren, Brittanie Dronette and family, and Chris Dronette and family; as well as five great grandchildren, Ally, Triston, Christopher, Jr., Leah, and Madelyn.

Mrs. Young is preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Ragley, LA on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Father Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being held at 6:00 PM. Visitation on Monday will be in the St. Pius X Catholic Church hall from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
