Hammay Edward Vidrine, 92, of Lake Charles died on Wednesday, January 08, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Vidrine was born on June 19, 1921 in Dura, LA and moved to Lake Charles in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a salesman for several companies including Creole Belle Coffee, Shepherd's Bread Comp., Wonder Potato Chips, and Seaport Coffee. Mr. Vidrine was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and made a Cursillo. He loved sports and was an avid Saints fan. He also enjoyed gardening. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Irene Leger Vidrine of Lake Charles; three sons, Russell Wayne Vidrine of Akron, OH, Donald Clyde Vidrine and wife Cheryl of Sulphur, and Charles Edward Vidrine of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, Virginia Lynn Estep of Plano, TX and Ladonna Faye Reddin and husband Patrick of Lake Charles; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Starkvoich will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Cursillo rosary being held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. David Muguku and his nurse, Mary Ann Eagle for their loving care given to Mr. Vidrine.
