Harmon Benton Kyle, 70, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Home in Jennings.
Harmon was a 1968 Sulphur High School graduate and attended McNeese University to study pre-law. He left McNeese to join the United States Army serving his country in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he began a career in construction, working throughout the United States and also in Algiers. He began as a pipefitter and worked his way up into management, a position he loved. Following in his father’s footsteps, he coached baseball with the Ward 4 Recreation for many years. Harmon loved to travel enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling, and was a connoisseur of fine beverages. He was great storyteller; the authenticity of some stories is yet to be determined. His stories and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his life partner of 25 years, Penny Bellow of Carlyss; siblings, Edward Kyle and wife Renee of Moss Bluff, Daniel Kyle and wife Elizabeth of West Palm Beach, FL, Lynette Haack of Katy, TX; Pamela Gros and husband Willie of Sulphur; James Kyle of Sulphur, and Samuel Kyle of Ragley; sister-in-law, Susan Kyle of Sulphur; and seventeen nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his honorary children, Lanie Blanco and husband Charles, B.J. Delahoussaye and husband Ethan Hardy, and Marsha Frederick and husband Damien; and his honorary grandchildren, Zadon Blanco, Hunter Frederick, and Hayden Frederick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.E. Kyle, Jr. and AnnaBelle Kyle.
Funeral Services honoring Harmon will be held at 10 am, Thursday, June 10, 2021, in Johnson & Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will be 4 – 8pm. Wednesday and resume at 8 am. Thursday until time of service at 10.
The family wishes to Thank Lamm Hospice and the Jennings Veteran’s Home Unit 3 staff for their support and loving care of Harmon during his extensive stay.
