Harold Dean Ford

Harold Dean Ford, 72, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 in the comfort of his home.


Mr. Ford was born in Tompkinsville, KY, traveled extensively throughout the states during his military career. He lived primarily in Kentucky and Missouri and has lived the past twelve years in Lake Charles, LA. A Vietnam Veteran, he served the United States Navy as a Corpsman for fifteen years. Mr. Ford also worked twenty years as a self-employed truck driver before retiring. He was a member of the NRA, enjoyed building guns, building clocks and was an avid coin collector. He was an outdoorsman whom, during his younger years, enjoyed fishing and camping. Mr. Ford will be most remembered for his wisdom and generosity.


He leaves to honor his memory, five sons, Danny Lee Ford of Bowling Green, KY, Donnie Wayne Ford and wife Rhonda of Lake Charles, LA, Richard Dean Ford and wife NavaJo of Iowa,LA, Joshua Dean Ford and wife Nicole of Sulphur, LA and Caleb Nathaniel Ford and wife Jeanie of Bucklin, MO; ten grandchildren, Stephanie and Stacy, Shawn and April, Brandon, Jacob, Courtney and Katie and Cheyenne, Launa and Samuel; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Ford of Bowling Green, KY, Jerry Ford of Moss Bluff and Michael Ford of KY; two sisters, Theresa Henson of TN and Bettie Schexneider of Lafayette, LA and his beloved dog, Jack.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Flossie Ford and one brother, Morris Ford.


A Tribute to Mr. Ford will be at 3:00 PM Monday, January 14, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Charles, LA. Reverend Chris Fuselier will officiate. Visitation Monday will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Graveside services followed by Military honors will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Freedom #2 Church Cemetery in Tompkinsville, KY.
