Harold L. Ney

Harold Lynn Ney, 78, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

Mr. Ney was born September 13, 1934 in Lake Charles, LA and was a 1953 graduate of LaGrange High School. He attended McNeese State University and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He began his career at Gulf States Utilities in 1958 and retired from there in 1987. He was a co-owner of the Concord House Furniture Store. In his younger days, Harold was a Boy Scout leader and little league baseball coach. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished woodworker and carpenter. In his retirement he enjoyed working in his yard, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Ney is survived by his wife, Rita Ney; sons, Greg Ney, Mike Ney, Darrell Ney, and Paul Ney and wife Shelly; brother, John E. Ney; sister, Margie Nelson; grandchildren, Ashley, Blake, Sarah, Bryce, Eric, Brock, Jared, Hannah and Alyssa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Smith Ney; sisters, Eva Martin and Dorothy Manena; and brothers, Robert Ney and Jimmy Ney.

His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Vincent Sedita will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
