Harriett Eileen Barker

January 24, 1936 — March 17, 2020

Harriett Eileen Robinson “Nana” Barker, 84, of Sulphur passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 8:49 pm at Landmark Care Center in Lake Charles.

Mrs. Barker was born on January 24, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida and was the youngest of 14 children born to the late John, Sr. and Ellen Robinson. She moved to Louisiana in 1999 to be with her daughter.

She loved frogs, lighthouses, the Atlantic Ocean, The (Jacksonville) Beaches, The Golden Girls and, above all, her family. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Sulphur Congregation where she made several close friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bruce Barker, one daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and William Reeder, one former son-in-law, Shannon Cox, one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amanda and James Westlake and one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Christopher and Brandi Cox, to whom she was “Gram” three beautiful great-granddaughters, Emma and Ava Westlake and Harper Cox, to whom she was “Nana” (by far her favorite title), one sister, Hazel Maureen Buettner of Jacksonville, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Her cremation has been entrusted to Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home with a memorial service planned at a later date when everyone who loved her can attend.

Our family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Landmark Care Center for treating her with dignity and love during her stay.
