Harris Joseph K. Fontenot

Harris Joseph K. Fontenot, 82, of Moss Bluff passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 in a local hospital.

Mr. Fontenot was born and raised in Mamou, LA and was a graduate of Mamou High School. He served the United States Army. He also attained an Associate Degree from Sowela Technical Institute. Mr. Fontenot worked his younger years for Chandler Testing. He worked most of his life as a Truck Driver in the Oil Field Equipment Industry. He was member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and their Cursillo Team and formerly St. John Boscoe Knights of Columbus. Mr. Fontenot loved to make people laugh, listening to Cajun and country music and wood carving. He also enjoyed cooking for his children and grandchildren, his gumbo and barbeque being his specialty.

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of sixty years, Rita Hoffpauir Fontenot of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Brenda LeBlanc of Houma and Kathy Fontenot and husband Gary of Moss Bluff; three sons, Randy Fontenot and wife Bobbie Jean of Dequincy, Harris Fontenot, Jr. of Church Point and Jude Fontenot and wife Becky of Iowa; ; one step-son, Larry Fuselier and wife Debra of Sulphur; one step-daughter-in-law, Debbie Fuselier of Maplewood; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Fontenot of Lake Charles; two sisters, Vinella Guinn and husband Homer of Iowa and Carol Roberts of West Monroe and his dear friend Marty.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, Gary Fuselier; great-grandchild, Joshua Paul St. John; sister, Ruby Douglas and his parents, Curry and Gertie Manuel Fontenot.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 1, 2013 in St. Margaret Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. A Cursillo rosary Saturday will begin at 10:00 AM followed with visitation until 12:30 PM in the funeral home.
