Harrison Lowell Wright

Harrison Lowell Wright, 83, of Lake Charles, LA died on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in his residence. Mr. Wright was born April 11, 1930 in Quincy, MA, and moved to the Lake Charles area in 1942. He was a 1948 graduate of Sulphur High School, attended Louisiana State University, and served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a civil engineer for the Louisiana Highway Department for over twenty years and then worked overseas in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Wright was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where he served as a Lay Reader for a number of years. He enjoyed gardening and yard work and loved to play with his grandchildren. He was also an avid baseball fan, playing many years when he was younger and trying out for the White Sox Baseball team. Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Marie Lucy Natali Wright; daughter, Rebecca Starr and husband Chris of Edgewood, NM; son, Ronald Wright of Friendswood, TX; siblings, Damon Wright of Houston, Whitny Wright and Charmian Howell, both of Sulphur, and Mark Wright of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Jacob Starr and Madeleine Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Virginia Wright; and brothers, Winslow Wright and Wayne Wright. His memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Jack Myers will officiate. A gathering of friends will be in the church hall from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
