Harry Gene Self, Sr.

Harry Gene Self Sr., 82, of Westlake passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 in a local hospital. He was born in Roganville, TX on June 26, 1929. He was in the US Army and was retired from Olin and Arcadian in Westlake.

Mr. Self is preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn Perkins Self; parents, Sybia Guinn Self and Charles Wesley Self Sr.; two brothers, Charles Wesley Self Jr. and James Robert Self; one great granddaughter, Emilya Grace Groth.

He is survived by two sons, Harry Gene Self Jr. and wife Sally of Fallon, NV; Robert Edwin Self and wife Lena of Lake Charles; two daughters, Edith Self Cady and Mary Self Groth and husband, Donald both of Richwood, TX. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11AM at Good Hope Baptist Church in Singer. Rev. Jerry Hext will officiate. Burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home from 5PM-9PM and will continue Wednesday at Good Hope Baptist Church from 9AM until time of service.
