Harvey Comfort, Jr.

Harvey Harrison Comfort, Jr., 95, of Lake Charles passed away at 2:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in a local residence.

Mr. Comfort was born on September 30, 1921 in Newburg, NY. He was raised and lived most of his life in Miami, FL where he graduated from Miami High School and was a star football player. Mr. Comfort recently moved to Lake Charles. He served in the US Navy before beginning a career with Traveler’s Insurance where he retired from after many years of service.

He enjoyed fishing and golf.

Those left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Connie Kimbrel (Larry) of Biloxi, MS, Susan Ward (James) of Lake Charles, and Janet Wash (Alan) of Matthews, NC; two sisters, Mary Matson (Ed) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Jane Gregory (Steve) of Ann Arbor, MI; eleven grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Shaffer Comfort; parents; and a brother, Alex Comfort.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, May 22, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Karl Koehler will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 3:00 PM until the start of the service.
