Hayward Hebert, Sr.

September 29, 1937 — February 17, 2021

Hayward Joseph Hebert, Sr., 83, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 4:00 AM on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in his residence.

Mr. ebert was born September 29, 1937 in New Iberia, LA and has lived in Lake Charles for the past fifty-five years.  He worked for Micelle’s Meat Market, Sunbeam and Guth before learning the pipefitter trade. He then began his career in pipefitting and worked for IMC, Fluor Daniels and retired from Turner Industries.  Mr. Hebert was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and a member of the Cajun French Music Association.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, but his true passion in life was spending time with his family.

Mr. Hebert is survived by his wife of almost fifty-six years, Mae Hebert; son, Joey Hebert and wife Kelly; daughter-in-law, Pamela Hebert; sisters, Clara LeBlanc, Ann Lee Theriot, Barbara Bodin, Shirley Flores, and Gloria Romero; brothers, John Hebert and Jim Romero; granddaughter, Amber Hebert; great-grandchildren, Diamond, Adam and Brendon Hebert; and step-grandchildren, Christopher Newman and Craig Henneman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbit and Rita Hebert; son, Raymond John Hebert; and brothers, Eufis and Roy Hebert.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Lake City Baptist Church, 3940 Holly Hill Road, Lake Charles, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Deacon Anthony Pousson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
