Helen Alessi Hutchinson

Helen Alessi Hutchinson, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017.

Helen was born on February 8, 1923 in Independence, LA to George and Odelle Alessi.  She resided in Independence until 2006 when she moved to Lake Charles, LA.  Helen worked at Lallie Kemp Hospital as a Medical Stenographer in Independence until she retired.  She enjoyed entertaining, sewing, quilting, travelling, and working in her yard.  Helen loved her church and was active until her health prevented her from participating.  She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and while in Lake Charles, was a regular attendee at First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles.

Mrs. Hutchinson is survived by her son, George W. Hutchinson, MD and wife Myriam; sister, Abigail Tate; grandchildren, Cecilia Reynolds (Ben Reynolds) of Athens, GA, George Hutchinson, Jr. (Monica) and Jeff Hutchinson (Lana), all of New Orleans; great-grandchildren, Gabriela, Luke and Nico Hutchinson of New Orleans and Helen Jane Reynolds of Athens, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lindsey Hutchinson; and sister, Ivyne Alessi Dykes.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at McNeely Funeral Home on Amite, LA.  Reverend Weldon Bares will officiate.  Burial will follow in Bankston Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations or memorials be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church in Independence, Louisiana, First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles or the charity of one's choice.
