Helen Carol Mayes

Helen Carol Trahan Mayes, 57, of Iowa, LA, died at 11:12 PM on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in a local care facility. Mrs. Mayes was born September 2, 1957 in Lake Charles, LA and has lived most of her life in the Lake Charles area. She was a graduate of Iowa High School. She worked as a auditor at Calcasieu Marine National Bank for a number of years, was Unit Secretary for the Day Surgery Department at Women and Children's Hospital, and most recently worked as a waitress at P.G.'s Diner. She was a member of Beauregard Memorial Church in Longville, LA. Mrs. Mayes enjoyed playing Bingo and could frequently be found at the CCOA. She also enjoyed spending time with her animals and loved to be with her family. She always made others smile and loved to be with people. Mrs. Mayes is survived by her husband of eleven years, Michael Mayes of Iowa, LA; sons, Julius Guillory and wife Monica of Iowa and Gerald C. Guillory and wife Tara of Deweyville, TX; step-daughter, Jennifer Dunbar and husband Paul of Lafayette, LA; mother-in-law, Mercedean Mayes of Lake Charles; brother, Joseph Trahan and wife Cathy of Lake Charles; sisters, Katy Doucet and husband Larry of Lake Charles, Florence Smith of Jennings, LA, Joy Barber of Breaux Bridge, LA, and Tammy Coleman and husband Calvin of Longville, LA; grandchildren, Samantha Myers, Dustin Myers, Justin Ford, and Samuel, Camille and Evelyn Dunbar. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Beau Guidry will officiate. Burial will follow in Beauregard Baptist Church Cemetery in Longville, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
