Helen Louise O'Rear Bragg

Mrs. Helen Bragg was born on February 16, 1943 in Birmingham, AL and was raised in Jasper, AL where she graduated from Walker High School.  She married her high school sweetheart, Larry. Mr. Bragg took a job in Lake Charles where they resided for 32 years until retirement in 1998. Larry and Helen moved back to Jasper, AL to enjoy the mountains and family.   They built a house that they made a home for all of their family and friends to enjoy for many years to come. Every summer they had a house full of grandchildren and every season was cherished. 2017 brought them back to Louisiana to be closer to their children.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Larry E. Bragg, Sr. of Carlyss; children, Debbie Bradley (Buddy) of Carlyss, Beth Cormier (Billy) of Channelview, TX, and Larry E. Bragg, Jr. of Carlyss; siblings, Clara Wynn of Georgia, Charles O’Rear (Kum) of Jasper, AL, and Newton O’Rear (Kathy) of Oakman, AL; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Artie and John O’Rear and 10 siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 15, 2020 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  The Rev. Lamar Huffman will officiate.  A private inurnment will follow in Highland Memorial Park.  A gathering will begin at 1:00 PM until the start of the service.
