Henry Chargois

Paul Henry Chargois, 60 , affectionately known as Paw Paw Wrecker to his 12 grandchildren passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Lasalette Church with Father Jim Winiarski, M.S. officiating. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, LA under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 11-9 pm at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6 pm with Deacon Matthew Cormier officiating followed by a Cursillo Rosary at 6:45 pm with visitation resuming on Monday at 8-9:30 am. Henry was a maintenance supervisor for Turner Industries and a pipe fitter and supervisor for Mundy Maintenance. Henry was also a wrecker operator since the age of 25. Henry never missed a Sulphur Tor Football game and worked the chains for 38 years. Henry loved to deer hunt, duck hunt, and fish. Mayor Chris Duncan established on September 7, 2013 to be Henry Chargois Day in Sulphur and also presented Henry with a key to the city. Mayor Duncan also awarded Henry with the Volunteer of the Month for the City of Sulphur in September of 2013. Henry was an active member of the Knights of Columbus 3015 and 8978 for about 37 years. Henry also coached recreational sports in Sulphur for 20 years. In 1996, Henry was Grand Knight for 8978 and won 1st in the State. Henry was also 4th degree Father Veillard Assembly for 16 years. Henry, along with his wife Sandra, was the CYO youth group sponsor at Our Lady of Lasalette Church for over 25 years. Henry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra LeJune Chargois; two sons, Barry Chargois and wife Rachel of Sulphur and Michael Chargois and wife Janet of LeBleu Settlement; and one daughter, Tracy Chargois Thigpen and husband Derek of Sulphur; brothers and sisters, Janet Johnson of Port OConnor, Texas, Lorraine Duhon and husband Jimmy of Ragley, LA, Lois Durant and husband Joe of Palestine, TX, Pauline Morgan and husband Johnny, Ronnie Chargois and wife Jamie, and Janie Pago and husband Joe all of Sulphur, LA; and his grandchildren, Justin Chargois, Jordan Chargois, Cody Burel, Cameron Chargois, Cole Chargois, Kaitlyn Chargois, Blake Chargois, Grayson Thigpen, Kylie Menard, Bradyn Chargois, Brodi Chargois, and Layden Thigpen. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Martha Derouen Chargois, a brother in law, Lewis Johnson, and niece, Missy Kelly.
