Henry (Hank) Rice Scobee, Iii

Henry Rice Scobee III (Hank) died in his home on April 16, 2023 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  

Born in Lake Charles on December 12, 1957, Hank graduated high school in Virginia at Woodberry Forest, studied English Honors at Emory University and graduated from LSU. 

Eldest son of Rice and Nell Scobee, beloved brother of Claire and Roy, sweet and fascinating uncle to William and Henry, great uncle to baby Hank, his death is deeply mourned by his family.  

The family thanks Hank’s life-long friends for the outpouring of their kind thoughts and gestures.   Through those friends and our family’s stories, we are reminded of Hank’s love of literature, his epic trips to hike the mountains of Montana, Wyoming, California and the Andes, his adventures in travel all over the world, his passion for music and joy in meeting people.  

An unforgettable, kind and sensitive soul, Hank’s warm spirit will live in our hearts forever.  

The family held a private service in his honor under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
